Wallace Collection – Free Islamic Patterns Session

Posting on behalf of Wallace Collection:

Wallace Collection is a free museum in central London. We wanted to let you know that we have a free workshop coming up for home-educating families, and we thought your members might be interested.

Join us at the museum to explore Islamic Patterns on Tuesday 27 June. Looking closely at the decoration on museum objects, students will explore the links between mathematics and art, and how geometry is an essential component of Islamic art. Working with an artist trained in the Islamic tradition and taking inspiration from objects in our amazing armour collections, students will create tessellating patterns using a compass and watercolours in our Studio.

This workshop is suitable for students aged 11-15, and parents and carers. We still have spaces available, and would love to reach out to families in south east London – the Wallace Collection is just a short walk from Bond Street, on the Central and Elizabeth lines, and close to many bus routes.

You can book free places on our website here: https://www.wallacecollection.org/learn/teachers-and-schools/home-education/

If you have any questions, please contact my Amy on schools@wallacecollection.org
